There is a keyframe somewhere. Look at the camera layer. Then when it goes down the carpet, see which key frame it is.
When you know, just lift the camera up, to the level you want, and that will create a keyframe.
Now get rid of the other keyframe that has took your camera down to carpet. If you still get stuck, pm. Keep going, you’ll crack it.

You can add any background you want. As Jose says, it’s transparent.
The black is just part default of after effects when you start a composition but you can create any background you want.
You can also put it into 3d space and put it right back, behind the rug or whatever you have.

super thank you for this tutorial. keep making videos of AE basic things-to-know-about. this vid really helps newbies like me. Thank you!!
By the way, i can’t seem to find the camera path on my AE just like you showed on this vdie (5:20). How to make that visible?
josehoguanipa says:

I notice the black background.
Can you possibly make that green?
(For chroma key)
Or is black because it’s transparent?

On the layer…you need to look on your left. Open up the camera layer mate, by clicking the arrow down.
Then go to where you want to start. Press those tiny clock or watch symbols. They create the keys on your layer.
Move the timer on the layer forward a bit and then move the camera. The moment you do, it creates a keyframe automatically because those tiny clock symbols were pressed.
Ps…I was there. I had no idea what the heck to do, so no worries mate. We all start somewhere. Cheers.

@colincoolkid I don’t think that $25,000,000 is “such a low budget”

Awesome showreel. Seeing this movie in the theatre was a purely orgasmic experience, and I still can’t believe some of the shots VFX companies can do nowadays. When I came hom from watching Cloverfield and learned that the entire bridge sequence was 90% CG my jaw dropped, literally.

Cloverfield is really masterpiece of the 2000′s – great storyline, deep atmosphere, perfect acting, nice visual effects….but the ending was disappointing. They should make a sequel with young but unknown actors/actresses like in this one

@croyboy202 most high quality visual effects programs will run on mac… but not very many that are a calibre that will cost less than $600… id recommend saving some money up…
